Opinião "Royal Love", de Cristiane Serruya

Posted by Ana Neves on quarta-feira, maio 23, 2018 in

Royal Love, de Cristiane Serruya
N. Páginas: 422
Cristiane Serruya  | Goodreads | Amazon

A king without a bride. A young woman struggling on her own. And a chance encounter that could provide an heir to the throne…

Angus Augustus Braxton-Lenox is the king of a small European country. He lives a charmed life as a royal, but it's devoid of love and romance. While his mother is obsessed with finding him another wife to continue the regal bloodline, Angus would be content with mere happiness.
Siobhan Falkner was abandoned by her family and grew up in orphanages and foster care. Far from having a silver spoon in her mouth, she works as a waitress by day and dreams of owning her own jewelry store at night.
One hot, erotic night, forbidden lust blossoms between Angus and Siobhan. The stunning young woman soon finds herself pregnant and in a pivotal role for the future of the kingdom. But Siobhan is not interested in Angus's title or in living a billionaire life of royalty, much less in being a princess. Angus however, won’t take no for an answer.
But there's more to worry about than secret romance and marred bloodlines… The king's mother is determined to prevent the two from working out their differences and getting married. And an enemy of the crown is bent on having her revenge…

Review: Gabriel's Redemption,by Sylvain Reynard+International Giveaway

Posted by Ana Neves on quarta-feira, dezembro 11, 2013 in
Title: Gabriel's Redemption
Autor: Sylvain Reynard
Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Professor Gabriel Emerson has left his position at the University of Toronto to embark on a new life with his beloved Julianne. Together, he’s confident that they can face any challenge. And he’s eager to become a father.
But Julianne’s graduate program threatens Gabriel’s plans, as the pressures of being a student become all consuming. When she is given the honor of presenting an academic lecture at Oxford, Gabriel is forced to confront her about the subject of her presentation – research that conflicts with his own. And in Oxford, several individuals from their past appear, including an old nemesis intent on humiliating Julia and exposing one of Gabriel’s darkest secrets. In an effort to confront his remaining demons, Gabriel begins a quest to discover more about his biological parents, beginning a chain of events that has startling repercussions for himself, Julianne, and his hope of having a family.

I’m interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition – particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself. I’m also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness. I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.

I still can’t believe that it ended!
Sylvain Reynard created such a beautiful and intense trilogy and it’s really hard to let Gabriel and Julianne go away. Well, they are not going for long, I really have hope that we can see them in Sylvain’s next book. About this one, I have to tell you that it’s a little different from the others. It is an amazing story with an incredible plot, but because they have an official relationship there are some aspects that turn the story in other directions. To be honest, in the beginning I was afraid, something was not right, but after reading a couple pages everything started to make sense and I enjoyed reading it very much.
Gabriel is always perfect! Even after marrying with the love of his live, he maintain his personality and continue to fight for his happiness. He struggles with himself, putting Julianne in the center of his Universe. He is so intense! About Julianne I have to say that she is so selfish in this book. She seems only interested in her studies and keeps forgetting about her husband wishes. Sometimes she made me so mad! But in the end I really loved the book and looking back I can’t say this one is worse than the others. It’s just different.
Hope you enjoy and much has I did. Sylvain Reynard is an awesome author and I hope to read more of his work.

Opinião "Styxx", de Sherrilyn Kenyon

Posted by Ana Neves on terça-feira, outubro 15, 2013 in
Titulo: Styxx
Autor: Sherrilyn Kenyon

Just when you thought doomsday was over...
Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.
As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn’t always been on his brother’s side. They’ve spent more centuries going at each other’s throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he’s willing to trade his life and future for Acheron’s.
The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now. She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her.
But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.
Yet it’s hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

Review:Disconnected by Bethany Daniel

Posted by Ana Neves on segunda-feira, agosto 12, 2013 in
Title: Disconnected
Author: Bethany Daniel

A Fast Paced Love Story!
Liam and Katy were high school sweethearts. Shortly after they graduated they ran off to Vegas to get married. Liam does theater acting and it's there that he is discovered by Excite Entertainment and flown to L.A.
Once he's in L.A his marriage takes the backseat to rubbing elbows with Hollywood's biggest and brightest. One night Liam throws a big party and Katy comes into their house filled with half dressed women. When Katy says she's going to leave, Liam doesn't believe her until he comes home from filming and finds a note that tears him apart.
Four years later, he's tried to move on but never let go of the love he has in his heart for his Katy. It's in a little town they are filming in that their paths cross again and Liam has to try and convince Katy that their love is worth fighting for.

Bethany Daniel is an unknown author in my country. Ever since I started following international fellow bloggers, I discovered some amazing new authors that I hadn’t yet heard about. Bethany is one of them. She writes contemporary romances and her first book is “Reconnected”. It is stated in her website that she lives in Texas, with her husband and two sons.
I admit that I didn’t read her first book, but I did read the second and I’m more than pleased for having had that opportunity. “Disconnected” tells the same story of its previous book with the small difference of being from Liam’s point-of-view (POV). I believe this story is beautifully written, with a simple vibe in the way that we forget about everything surrounding us and, of course, I find it to have a really strong and good structure. The reader knows what’s happening, from the start, and so he doesn’t seem to have the chance of getting confused with the story. Since I did not read the first installment I’m unable to compare both books, but what I can tell you is that I think that some scenes should had been more developed. Some things happen too soon, too fast. Because it is Liam’s POV we can only see what he sees, which made it a little harder for me to imagine what was happening overall, but, as I said before, I really did enjoy this book. It was refreshing! Being inside Liam’s mind was seriously interesting and it will be great to already know what he was thinking at a given moment when I read “Reconnected”—Yes, I’m going to read it, too! I look forward to the moment of when I’ll have the opportunity to do just that, and for the release of the 3rd book, which will tell Krista and Scott’s story. I can’t wait!

Opinião "Trust: Betrayed", de Cristiane Serruya

Posted by Ana Neves on terça-feira, julho 23, 2013 in
Titulo: Trust: Betrayed
Autor:  Cristiane Serruya

In BETRAYED, the second installment of the Trust series, Sophia, Ethan and Alistair will face and revisit their past dark deeds.
Each one of them will need to overcome their guilt, fear and pain and learn to see themselves through forgiving eyes.
Or succumb to their misery.
Alistair Connor MacCraig, a powerful banker, and Ethan Ashford, a steel tycoon, are both in love with Sophia Leibowitz, the ravishing owner of Leibowitz Oil. Sophia fells for Alistair's seduction. She is determined to have a relationship with him but a dark and terrible secret lurks beneath the surface she presents to the world. When she regains her memories, shame and fear will take control of her. Will she be able to find peace within herself? Alistair is in love with Sophia but he has difficulties overcoming his guilty over his daughter's death and his sexual preferences. Certain that he doesn't deserve to be loved, he would do everything to push Sophia away, despite his love for her. Will he be able to find redemption?
Ethan, no less haunted by his secrets and lies, lives in an alternate reality because the loss of Sophia is too unbearable to face. He would do everything to have Sophia back in his arms.

Review: Lost to the Desert Warrior, by Sarah Morgan

Posted by Ana Neves on segunda-feira, junho 24, 2013 in
Title: Lost to the Desert Warrior
Author: Sarah Morgan

"Walking into the lion's den unprotected, Princess?" For Layla, princess of Tazkhan, her arranged marriage means one thing—a lifetime of cruelty and captivity. Such an unendurable prospect drives her to throw herself at the mercy of Sheikh Raz Al Zahki—her family's greatest enemy!
Raz demands one thing in return for the safe haven Layla is seeking—this brooding desert king wants to make her his queen! Her freedom might be secured, but now her heart is at risk, for soon she's lost to the scorching heat of their marriage bed. However, it will take more than fire to thaw her guarded husband….

Unbelievable! There really is a reason why I love this kind of stories so much. I don’t exactly know how to explain it, but all Harlequin Romances whose stories have something to do with deserts and sheiks make me feel intrigued and, somehow, I simply just can’t resist reading them.
Sarah Morgan created an amazing story, with a strong plot and realistic details. Although part of the action takes place in the desert, she quickly changed it to a big house where true royalty could live and have access to incredible luxuries—properties, parties, cloths, jewels… Of course that I believe these characters live part of their lives in the desert, but it is quite difficult to accept that they’re there all the time. Well, it definitely was a great beginning with the death of Layla’s father because it became clear to me that she was going to have to marry someone to maintain control of the land, what I wasn’t expecting was for her to run away in order to look for a safety place with her family’s worst enemy. It was a dangerous choice, but it was something needed for herself and her sister to get out of Hassan’s hands.
Sadly, I think all happened too soon! I know Harlequin’s books are rather small, but the characters fell in love too soon and I discovered the traitor almost right in the beginning. I believe there could be some sort of continuation, with the author writing a story with Layla’s sister and Raz’s brother has protagonists this time. They were in the desert, alone, for so long that something could have happened between them… I sure can dream, can’t I?
Overall, it was a sweet story that I enjoyed reading very much.

Opinião "Trust: A New Beginning", de Cristiane Serruya

Posted by Ana Neves on domingo, abril 28, 2013 in

Titulo: Trust: A New Beginning
Autor: Cristiane Serruya
Goodreads | BookDepository | Facebook | Twitter

They are beautiful. They are rich. They are strong willed and successful. They have everything, but love. And each one of them has a dark secret looming in their past.
Sophia is a 25 year old Brazilian widow. Intelligent and ravishing, she flees from her own country after a tragic incident. Hiding from everyone and everything, she remains alone, torn between the love for a dead man, the torment of living without part of her memory and the fear of moving on.
Ethan is one of the most important tycoons in the steel industry. As the memory of an awful evening in his adolescence haunts him night and day, he keeps looking for an elusive woman whom he could love - and who would love him - as he never has in all his 35 years... Until he finds Sophia.
Alistair is a 34 year old powerful banker, searching for one–night stands with women who will warm his bed. And that he can punish physically to abate his anger for his late wife's black deeds and his own guilt for being such a debauched man for so many years. Any woman will do, and he has many to choose from, as they all fall instantly for his manly, devilish charming ways.
In Europe, in the months after October 2009, their paths will cross and clash. Who will win the prize of love?

Meu Deus!

Posted by Ana Neves on segunda-feira, abril 15, 2013 in

Titulo: Inferno
Saga: As Crónicas de Nick
Autor: Sherrilyn Kenyon
BookDepository | Goodreads | Página Oficial

The heat is on, and a new threat to humanity has risen…
Nick has his driver’s license and he’s not afraid to use it. But turning sixteen isn’t what he thought it would be. While other boys his age are worried about prom dates and applying for college, Nick is neck deep in enemies out to stop him from living another day. No longer sure if he can trust anyone, his only ally seems to be the one person he’s been told will ultimately kill him.
But life spent serving the undead is anything except ordinary. And those out to get him have summoned an ancient force so powerful even the gods fear it. As Nick learns to command and control the elements, the one he must master in order to combat his latest foe is the one most likely to destroy him. As the old proverb goes, fire knows nothing of mercy, and if Nick is to survive this latest round, he will have to sacrifice a part of himself. However, the best sacrifice is seldom the sanest move. Sometimes it’s the one that leaves your enemies confused, and you even more so.
And sometimes, you have to trust your enemy to save your friends. But what do you do when that enemy is you?
